Use a Smartlist

Some of your site's templates might contain Smartlists. These can be more difficult to understand than other parts of PubliSite but once you get the hang of them they are incredibly powerful.

Smartlists are useful for listing links to other pages or documents, items in the list can be added and removed manually or generated dynamically using combination of keywords and categories saving you time. For instance you could set a Smartlist to find a maximum of 5 pages using the keyword "strawberry", as you add new pages to your site which contain the word Strawberry the Smartlist will update without you having to go back and edit the original page.

The way Smartlists appear on your site can vary dramatically as they can be configured to work differently in the template. When editing you will recognise a Smartlist by it's edit window.

Choosing what content is displayed in your list is done using the following settings.

Order by

The options for this are:

Relevence - To a keyword
Date (ascending) - The date a page was created or it's display date
Date (descending) - The date a page was created or it's display date

Maximum number of items

The number of items to be displayed by the list.

Search Content

You can set this to "autofind" based on keywords within your page, useful for finding related content. Or by a keyword entered in the keyword field.

Multilingual settings

If your site is multilingual you can configure things like Previous and Next text for the list. If your site is not Multilingual you ignore these.

Pre-defined content

If you would prefer to manually choose which items appear in your list use either the pages list ordrop-down of documents to choose an item then click, Add. You can also remove items from your list.

Once you have finished changing settings, scroll down and click Update. Note that the Smartlist won't update whilst you are in edit view to preview changes you will need to save the page and then preview the page.
